SACRAMENTO — Today, Controller Malia M. Cohen issues the following statement on former President Joe Biden’s prostate cancer diagnosis:

“I am deeply saddened to learn of former President Joe Biden’s recent diagnosis of aggressive prostate cancer. As he and his family navigate this difficult time, my thoughts are with them, and I extend my heartfelt wishes for strength, healing, and comfort.

On behalf of the people of California, I join the nation in sending our support to President Biden and his loved ones.”

As the chief fiscal officer of California, Controller Cohen independently oversees and manages California’s financial resources with integrity and transparency to build trust. The Controller is responsible for accountability and disbursement of the state’s financial resources. The Controller has independent auditing authority over government agencies that spend state funds. She is a member of numerous financing authorities, and fiscal and financial oversight entities including the Franchise Tax Board.
