About Controller's Oversight of Audits of Local Agencies by Independent Auditors:

The Controller is responsible for overseeing the annual financial and compliance audits of school districts and other local government agencies performed by independent auditors across the state. In addition, the Controller produces annual reports to the Legislature as required by statute.

State agencies are provided with the findings and required to address any problems affecting their programs.
