Important W-2 Info for State Controller's Office Employees

This message about anticipated 2012 Form W-2s is intended for everyone employed by the State Controller's Office as of June 1, 2012.

Because this is the first time W-2s will be issued through the Controller's new payroll system, known as MyCalPAYS, efforts have been taken to validate all information to be included in the forms. 

This effort is no different than what takes place in the legacy system before printing and mailing occurs. Nevertheless, the 2012 Form W-2, Wage and Tax Statements will be produced using the constructive receipt method (correctly reporting what the employee was actually paid) and will include Salary Advances where 2012 Taxes have been remitted, as well as other earnings outside the MyCalPAYS payroll system (i.e. travel claims via CalATERS, etc.). 

All audits and validations are being performed to ensure correctness just as they are always performed. 

Once completed, W-2s will be printed and mailed no later than January 31, 2013.
