Scope of Position:
Under the general direction provided by a Staff Services Manager I (Supervisor), the incumbent is responsible to lead and perform analytical work of the more complex collection activities for delinquent tax accounts associated with the following revenue-producing tax programs: Estate Tax, Gift & Inheritance Tax Motor Vehicle Fuel License Tax, Insurance Tax, Petroleum & Gas Tax, and Property Tax Postponement and other related collection programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
(Candidates must perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodations.)
Duties will be commensurate with those at the level for which the candidate is hired.
- Independently perform research and analysis related to more complex delinquent tax accounts for a variety of tax programs to determine collection actions.
- Evaluate sensitive and confidential data such as: financial reports, federal tax information, personal income tax documents, credit agency reports, county property records, and other supporting financial documents.
- Communicate and consult with debtor representatives to assist in the collection of delinquent accounts receiveable.
- Evaluate current collection processes and identify process improvements by gathering and analyzing data from other governmental agencies.
- Assist with the preparation and coordination of Discharge from Accountability, on the accounts determined uncollectible.
- Provide recommendations and assist with legislative proposals and/or changes.
- Assist with special projects as assigned.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Demonstrate a high degree of initiative and analytical ability to research and analyze data and present ideas and draw sound conclusions effectively
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook
- Strong organizational skills and a commitment to provide quality customer service
- Excellent attendance and dependability
- Ability to be flexible in response to changing workload
- Knowledge of completed Staff Work
