Scope of Position:
Under general direction provided by a Senior Management Auditor, the incumbent will perform as the first full journey person by performing reviews and audits of local government agencies. The incumbent often performs as a team leader, assisted by one or more Associate Management Auditors and/or Staff Services Management Auditors, in performing audits with contracts obtained by outside agencies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
(Candidates must perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodations.)
- Act as audit team leader by planning, coordinating, and conducting audit assignments to ensure compliance with appropriate laws and regulations governing the program and/or agency operations audited. Personally perform the most complex and sensitive audit assignments. Ensure audit work is properly documented and sufficient to support compliance findings and meets SCO audit policies and government auditing standards.
- Provide technical advice to management concerning audit report preparation and audit finding presentation. Recommend solutions to audit problems and issues. Train subordinate auditors in developing audit findings and recommendations.
- Perform complex, difficult, and sensitive audit-related financial and/or management projects; and complete comprehensive investigations of accounting and financial organizational procedures and studies.
- Evaluate and apply all laws, rules, regulations, and legal opinions, applicable to the audit assignments.

For most of the bureaus, overnight business travel is routine and may require lifting heavy bags of equipment such as computers, working papers, etc.
