Controller Promotes Earned Income Tax Credit
Hi, I’m State Controller John Chiang with a California Tax Tip.
Millions of workers will qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit for the first time this year. This federal credit, also known as the EITC, could boost your income by up to $5,700.
That’s why I’m helping spread the word to working families across California.
If your household income in 2011 was $49,000 or less, you might be eligible for the EITC. This money goes straight to you, even if you don’t owe any taxes.
You have to claim the credit on your tax return, but free tax help is available all across the State.
