Tips for Lump Sum Separation Pay

Action Required: Share the following information with all human resources (HR) office employees.

Description: The State Controller’s Office (SCO) has completed processing the 2025 November and December Lump Sum Separations that were received by the submission deadline (see Payroll Letter #25-015).

For November-December separation Personnel Action Request (PAR) packages received after the submission deadline, please follow the tips and references below to monitor their completion.

  • November-December separation PAR packages that were received late will be processed by separation date (earliest first), then by received date (earliest first). Because of the high volume of November-December separations, it can take more time to complete those lump sum PAR packages than those for January-October separations.
  • Monitor the Weekly Processing Dates (updated each Monday) on the SCO website for the dates of PAR packages currently being processed. If you have a concern after reviewing those dates, you may call the Statewide Customer Contact Center (SCCC): Select #2 for Civil Service, then #4 for Payroll, and then #1 for General Payroll Questions.
  • Once the lump sum separation is completed, contribution information is sent to Savings Plus. That information is sent twice each month: in the middle of the month and then at end. Therefore, there may be a delay between completing the separation and those funds appearing in the employee’s Savings Plus account. For example: A lump sum separation completed March 3 will be sent to Savings Plus mid-March, while a separation completed March 18 will be sent at the end of March.
  • Do not submit an additional PAR if the Upload History section of your ConnectHR Upload Forms page shows that the PAR package was already uploaded.
