New Look for Payroll Warrants
Action Required: Share the following information with all human resources (HR) office employees.
Description: The State Controller’s Office (SCO) Disbursements Bureau would like to share the following update about State of California payroll warrants.
Effective Tuesday, May 12, 2026, payroll warrants will have a new look. Specifically, they will no longer be printed on pressure sealed paper but will instead be sealed in a standard (#10 size) envelope.
This change is part of a larger effort to replace end-of-life equipment and streamline and standardize print and mail processes to reduce cost and complexity.
SCO highly recommends departments share this upcoming change with employees who receive paper warrants and encourage these staff to Make the Switch to direct deposit so they can view their payroll data on Cal Employee Connect (CEC) instead.
